Disney Pressed Pennies
Disney pressed pennies are so fun! The first time I went to Disney world I remember seeing a machine that made pressed pennies. I put a penny in the machine, and waited as it pressed my penny out to be a character from a Disney cartoon. That was my first time being at a Disney resort, and it was the first time I had ever heard of a pressed penny. That was a great summer and I am sure glad we went to Disney and not to some other place. My children will get to hear that story one day.
The history of Disney pressed pennies goes back to the day when penny presses were done by a living person. The machines used to make the pennies now a day are mechanical. The modern day penny press machines get the job done efficiently. Compared to the old day machines, between two to four times the amount of pennies are pressed with the newer machine models. Those are the type which Disney uses, the mechanical type. Disney has been using this type of press since the very early 1970's.
Something more marvelous than Disney pressed pennies are machines which produce two pennies at a time! This model of the penny press was first released by Disney in 1987 as a great attraction for guest's to use. This device is still in large being used at not only Walt Disney resorts, but at a number of places including zoos, other theme parks, carnivals and a variety of other places. With the vast difference in places for use of the penny press, it's no wonder why Walt Disney theme parks ever started using them!
